What Does It Mean to be Whole Life?

The Whole Life ethic acknowledges that issues that appear to be separate such as human sex trafficking, political violence, famine, abortion, female genital mutilation, euthanasia, pornography, embryo destruction and many others are actually related threats to the dignity of the human person.

The Whole Life ethic recognizes that a threat anywhere to human dignity constitutes a threat to human dignity everywhere.

The Whole Life ethic is dedicated to promoting and defending human dignity in all its stages. In the United States the biggest threat is abortion, other places it may be female genital mutilation, famine, forced sterilization, or lack of civil rights.

Why does being Whole Life mean you’re against abortion? Shouldn’t women have the right to choose what to do with their own bodies?
Being Whole Life means that you want to respect and promote human dignity - for everyone. Abortion is directly contrary to this in at least three aspects:

1) The dignity of the woman. Abortion is painful and it hurts women - just watch the third installment of The Godfather trilogy, Juno, or a South Park episode, or listen to Kid Rock, Ben Folds, or Ani DiFranco among many and you will see that this choice only leads to destruction and pain.

2) The dignity of the man. Abortion is painful and hurts men. Again listen to our artists - the Sex Pistols, Tim McGraw, or Flipsyde - their songs are painful, difficult to listen to. Their songs are about abortion.

3) The dignity of the child. Abortion is painful and hurts children. We don’t have children from the womb telling us how painful it was - they can’t. Their voices have been silenced.

What is HERO and its relationship to IAmWholeLife.Com?
The Human-rights Education and Relief Organization (HERO) is a whole-life multi-platform campaign, dedicated to defending the dignity of the human person while working towards a culture of life, love, and beauty.

One of the platforms of HERO is the Web 2.0 initiative—IamWholeLife.Com, aimed at mobilizing new media that inspires action, communication, and education on behalf of causes for human dignity around the world.
Is HERO/IAmWholeLife a religious organization?
No, however, HERO works with religious groups, churches, and aid organizations to promote human dignity according to our ethics.
